Broken Hill Art Exchange (BHAE Inc) is involved in a large number of community projects involving the creative arts.

Broken Hill Art Exchange held an exhibition called "Crackerdust" highlighting its art and artist archive. It compromised of over 30 short video documentaries and digital art pieces.

The artworks included a range of local art forms such as poetry, writing & story telling, photography, painting, drawing, printmaking as well as new media & music / sound art.

Art in the street

John "Jacko" Alty is a resident artist with the Art Exchange. His proposal is to create paintings and sketches of portraits, landsacapes and other things in and around Broken Hill. We are working on setting up his easel in public places so that people can have their portraits done. The trial will most likely take place over Christmas for those looking for an unusual gift. There is an opportunity for other artists interested to join in.

Music and Performance

Prosperity Starting with a one day open mic event from 10am-6pm, new and emerging artists are invited to perform for up to 15minutes each.

Bell's Jam From Prosperity up to six artists are chosen for a 45min gig and jam session. The event is every Sunday from 7-9pm. All musicians are welcome to bring an instrument and join in. Some percussion instruments are available at the venue.

Cafe Culture Several Cafes have joined in on this event to profile our best young musicians, allowing them to gain valuable performance experience and exposure while raising money for CD recordings.
