About S.H.A.P.E Broken Hill 2010

The City of Broken Hill has made a unique and significant social, cultural, economic and historical contribution to Australian society. Unique due to its isolation, its semi-arid environs and the characters that make up its population, it has thrived in an otherwise harsh environment. With a legacy in mineral resources to rival any other, riches have been made, technological advances created and historical workplace reform born. Yet it faces an uncertain and challenging future. No longer able to rely on its former wealth, Broken Hill looks to innovate, to diversify and to explore a future full of creativity, economic success, environmental sustainability and positive social outcomes.

S.H.A.P.E. Broken Hill was a call to arms, an invitation to experts in their field to apply their knowledge and expertise from the Art, Health, Industry and Education sectors to real world issues of sustainability, community well being and economic progress. This invitation was to ignite a collective approach to formulating new pathways with new ideas for future sustainability and prosperity of Broken Hill, Far West NSW, Australia.
