Caitlin Foster’s practice navigates metaphorical representations of day to day social commentary. This is broadly represented within her art as ‘monsters’ and ‘bizarre humans’, through the medium of drawings, paintings, sculptures, moving image and poetry.
Further research is conducted into current issues drawn from historical environmental detriment. ‘The Mechanical Monster’ is an expansive series of characters within her most recent investigations, evolving from an ongoing written narrative.
Caitlin hopes to create a mural trail featuring her characters. This trail will eventuate in a series of published stories. The 'Mechanical Monster' is ingrained in Broken Hill’s mining history, and is physically imbedded within its contemporary landscape - and serves as an ideal context for a mural project whilst in residence.
