Over the past two years, our volunteer-run organisation has welcomed and supported artists from all over Australia — and beyond — through our Artist Residency Program and community workshops.

Creative Achievements 2023–2025
• 70+ artists in residence hosted through our affordable Artist Residency Program (17 residencies in 2023–24, 53 in 2024–25)
• 30+ community workshops across artmaking, photography, embroidery, bookmaking, macramé, and more
• Red Dirt Blue Skies Artist Trail — 34 artists, 43 works, 25 venues bringing art to Broken Hill’s streets
• Waste 2 Art & Trashy Fashion — inspiring sustainability,creativity, and local pride
• 143 members and a vibrant creative community of 500+
• Winner: 2024 Broken Hill City Council Volunteer CulturalOrganisation of the Year
BHAE is built entirely on volunteer passion — creating opportunities for artists, connecting communities, and keeping
creativity alive in the Far West.
