Trashy Fashion: Thrifted Fashion Party & Clothes Swap
As part of the Waste 2 Art 2025 program, The Broken Hill Art Exchange and Lifeline Broken Hill Country to Coast bring you Trashy Fashion, a thrifty fashion event and celebration of handmade, upcycled, recycled and pre-loved fashion.
The Australian Fashion Council conducted government-funded research and established that on average, Australians purchase 14.8kg of clothing, or 56 new items, every year.
Sadly, an average of 10kg of this ends up in landfill. This makes Australia one of the highest consumers of textiles per capita in the world.
The Waste 2 Art program encourages the community to be mindful of waste and think about how we shop and discard items. Trashy Fashion celebrates alternative and sustainable ways to look our best.
